Hole by Hole Guide
1
Par: 4
Yards: 430-394-365-323
A straightway par four with a fairway bunker on the left of the landing area. Play your second shot over a cross bunker which is thirty yards in front of the green. A lake and bunker are to the left and behind the green.
2
Par: 4
Yards: 386-359-318-270
A very precise hole with a narrow downhill ice shot on a fairway carved through the forest. There’s trouble off the tee if you hit left into the water, and the green is completely surrounded by trees and bunkers.
3
Par: 3
Yards: 206-182-158-128
This hole is a dramatic downhill par three. The green is located in a beautiful stand of mature hardwoods and is surrounded on each side by a large bunker.
4
Par: 4
Yards: 432-398-371-311
The large lake along the left of this hole shouldn’t be a factor off the tee. Approach the green from the right side of the fairway, because it is protected on the left by a huge, deep bunker.
5
Par: 4
Yards: 446-420-387-316
The longest par four of the course. A flowing stream and pond protect the right side of the hole. The downhill tee shot and uphill second shot make the hole extremely challenging to par.
6
Par: 4
Yards: 344-306-281-247
The shortest par four of the course, #6 is sculpted through the trees and is extremely narrow. There’s trouble everywhere. A bunker on the left side protects the lay up. A stream and deep bunker at the front right side of the green make for a demanding second shot. This hole can be driven by the longest hitters, but not many will make it.
7
Par: 3
Yards: 152-143-130-113
The shortest hole, but one of the most dramatic. Tee shots must get over a wide and deep ravine to a small, well bunkered green. Expect your score to be anywhere from one to six.
8
Par: 4
Yards: 416-390-354-309
Probably the most breathtaking and scenic hole and one of the favorites. The tee shot plays from at least 100 feet above the fairway to a narrow landing area. On the left of the green is a natural wet-lands and just behind a stand of hardwoods. It’s a very photogenic hole. Take your camera.
9
Par: 5
Yards: 514-480-443-409
Uphill all the way. Trees line the entire left side and a stream runs along the right side. Number nine is a good risk/reward par five. The green is well protected by two deep bunkers in front and to the right. Scores will vary from three to seven and a conservative approach should result in some easy pars or even birdies.
10
Par: 4
Yards: 423-377-321-289
The stream along the left side leads to two ponds which protect the green on the left and behind. Even though the fairway is wide, the tee shot is difficult. The second shot is a short iron to the small green. There’s a bunker both front and back. this is a demanding hole from start to finish.
11
Par: 3
Yards: 302-168-153-127
A downhill with an extraordinary view of the lake. The green is protected by two very large bunkers on the right and left. The greatest challenge is choosing the clubs to deal with the severe downhill law of the hole.
12
Par: 4
Yards: 408-400-391-304
Number 12 also plays downhill and there’s lots of trouble off the tee to the left, including a stream and some large trees. The tee is as at least 100 feet above the landing area with a slight dog-leg to the left. the green has a very deep bunker on the left.
13
Par: 4
Yards: 437-401-351-320
Number 13 plays along the lake shore. The semi-blind tee shot is over a hill with a blind bunker on the left. There’s no need to cut the corner of the dog-leg to gain a shorter shot. On your second shot, the right side gives you the best angle to the green. The landing area is wide but there are bunkers around the green and to the left. This is a very difficult par four.
14
Par: 5
Yards: 559-538-524-429
#14 plays uphill toward the clubhouse. this is the longest hole at Old Kinderhook, with water along the entire left side. There is plenty of room on the right side of the landing area. Two bunkers protect the second landing area and the small green has additional bunkers left and right. This is a true three shot, par five.
15
Par: 4
Yards: 402-365-332-293
This is another hole with water along the entire length. The water crosses the fairway at about 300 yards out. Play the second shot slightly up to an undulating and well protected green with bunkers on both sides.
16
Par: 3
Yards: 206-175-162-132
A long par three. A deep bunker and pond wait on the right side of the split level green .A par will always be a great score on this difficult hole.
17
Par: 4
Yards: 376-338-315-236
A slight dog-leg to the right with bunkers right and left of the landing area. The second shot plays uphill to a semi-blind green, protected in front by a large and deep bunker. Avoid this bunker at all costs. It appears to be in front of the green, but is actually well short.
18
Par: 5
Yards: 516-476-442-406
The most dramatic, memorable and scenic of the course. Big trees and a lake to the left and a deep bunker on the right side of the landing area. The lake is not a factor in most tee shots but will impact second and third shots. Eighteen presents a wonderful risk/reward challenge. The green is surrounded by water and bunkers that protect the second and third shots. This is a marvelous way to end play.
